Born in Paris, Bernard Cathelin was a celebrated member of the post-war School of Paris (École de Paris). He studied at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs under Maurice Brianchon. He refined his lithography skills working alongside legendary masters like Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso at the historic Mourlot studio in Paris. Throughout his life, his work remained deeply tethered to the terrain of the Drôme region in Provence, making this early 1958 piece a quintessential representation of his lifelong creative inspirations.
